NINTH GRADE COUNTS (incoming 9TH GRADErs)

NINTH GRADE COUNTS (incoming 9TH GRADErs)

Through a partnership with the All Hands Raised Initiative, Latino Network works to increase high school graduation rates for all students. Ninth Grade Counts supports incoming freshmen in the transition to high school and combines classroom lessons with enrichment activities to teach students about:

  • Time management

  • Leadership

  • College planning and savings

  • Community service

  • Career exploration

  • Latin American culture

  • Social emotional learning

All Hands Raised studies have shown that students who finish ninth grade with 6 credits are five times more likely to successfully graduate from high school.

  • During a four-week summer session before their 9th grade year, students spend mornings in class and afternoons engaged in fun, enriching activities from sports to field trips to college visits. Ultimately, students earn 0.5 academic credits toward their high school graduation requirements by completing a writing assignment.
