4 Essential resources for immigrants
Who is PIRC?
Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition is an organization dedicated to defend immigrants’ rights in Oregon. This is the number to call if you suspect or witness any type of ICE or federal agent activity, or if you know someone has been detained.
PIRC works with a rapid response network made up of trained volunteers, legal observers, and attorneys who mobilize and provide support when there is ICE or federal agent activity.
Recently, PIRC launched a WhatsApp channel where they share VERIFIED and updated information about ICE or federal agent activities in the state of Oregon.

Who is IMirj?
IMIrJ (Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice) has trained volunteers who offer accompaniment support for immigration appointments. If someone in the community has a check-in with ICE or an immigration court hearing, it’s very important that they do NOT go alone. IMIrJ can connect with their volunteers to coordinate accompaniment to provide support at immigration appointments.

Who is ECO?
ECO (Equity Corps of Oregon) provides no-cost legal representation for immigration cases for those who qualify. It is important for unauthorized immigrants who are at risk of removal to enroll in ECO. ECO prioritizes cases based on risk of removal, so wait times to receive services varies.
Enrolling with ECO is a step towards being prepared in case there is an interaction with ICE or federal agents. If you are enrolled in ECO and there is a detention, lawyers are able to mobilize more quickly to offer legal advice using the data from your registration.
