4 ways to help your community
During these times, helping our communities is more important than ever. There are many ways to show support, below here are four ways we can all help.
1st. Save PIRC’S Number + Join their whatsapp
This is a 2-in-1 step: Call (save) this number if you witness or suspect any ICE or federal agent activity, or if someone you know has been detained, you can get info directly from PIRC. PIRC also shares verified updates about ICE activity through their WhatsApp channel, so your community can stay informed and alert.

2nd. Share & collect info on ICE activity
First, try to stay calm. If it is safe to do so, record what is happening or take detailed notes using the C.L.E.A.R. method:
C – Count: “3 officers, 1 van”
L – Location: “SE 2nd and Morrison, Portland”
E – Equipment: “Blue uniforms that say ICE, van unmarked”
A – Activity: “Officers are checking IDs”
R – Report Time: “2:45 PM, Thursday, February 27”
Remind the person of their rights:
The right to remain silent
The right to ask for a lawyer
The right not to sign anything without legal advice
Then call PIRC at 1-888-622-1510. Provide as much CLEAR info as possible when reporting.
3rd. Let’s verify information together!
It’s also crucial that we work together to verify media and information before sharing it. Quick Tips Before You Share:
Check the source: Real, verified, credible?
Find the full story: Original article or video? Not just a screenshot?
Use reverse image search: Google Images, TinEye.
Verify with various trusted news: AP, NPR, Univision, Google News. (Tip: Even verify these at times!)
Fact-check: Snopes, PolitiFact, AFP Fact Check.
Watch for emotional triggers: If it makes you angry or scared, pause and verify.
Check comments: Sometimes they reveal if info is false.
Beware deepfakes: High-quality videos may be fake—always confirm sources.
Pause, verify, then share. Together, we stop misinformation!
4th. Share, Save and Repost resources!
PIRC Hotline: Call this number if you witness or suspect any ICE or federal agent activity, or if someone you know has been detained. (1-888-622-1510)

Sanctuary Promise Hotline: If you suspect a violation of Oregon's sanctuary laws. (1-844-924-7829)
IMIRJ: If you are going to immigration court or have an ICE check-in ask for accompaniment. Do not go to an ICE court appointment alone! www.imirj.org/accompaniment
