9th Grade Counts
Through a partnership with the All Hands Raised Initiative, Latino Network works to increase high school graduation rates for all students. Ninth Grade Counts supports incoming freshmen in the transition to high school and combines classroom lessons with enrichment activities to teach students about:
- Time Management
- Tips for High School Success
- Career Exploration
- College Planning
- Writing Scholarship Essays
- Healthy Sexuality
- Latin American Culture
All Hands Raised studies have shown that students who finish ninth grade with 6 credits are five times more likely to successfully graduate from high school.
Latino Network’s Ninth Grade Counts program supports students at Madison H.S and Reynolds HS.
During a four-week summer session before their 9th grade year, students spend mornings in class and afternoons engaged in fun, enriching activities from sports to field trips to college visits. Ultimately students earn 0.5 academic credits toward their high school graduation requirements by completing a writing assignment.
