Family Engagement Specialist
Estela joined the School Based Programs team at Latino Network as a Family Engagement Specialist in 2016. She works with parents and families of students to help them support and be positive role models for their children.
Growing up in Mexico City, Estela holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and she is a Certified Health Promoter. She is grateful to come from a family with deep Mexican roots, and because of this, she is especially passionate about helping the Latino community in Portland.
Before working with Latino Network, Estela worked for the Early Head Start Program as a Family Support Specialist, where she helped coordinate health classes and programs for underserved communities in Portland.
Estela’s work is driven by her passion to help Latino parents and their children. She feels fortunate to work with the Latino community and is grateful that she can share and identify with the people she serves. As a parent herself, Estela can also identify with other parents’ goals for their children, and she is passionate about helping them become involved in their child’s education.
When she isn’t working with Latino Network, Estela enjoys exploring and hiking around Portland. Her favorite part about the city is its nature and cleanliness. Her greatest achievement is moving to the US and adapting to the culture, learning English and living alongside people from many different backgrounds.
