Raul joined the Latino Network team in spring of 2016 as the Family Stability Program Coordinator, and transitioned to the Leadership & Civic Engagement Program Coordinator later in the fall. He works with Advocacy Director Amanda Manjarrez to do leadership development and policy work in the Latino Community.

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico and growing up in Alaska, Raul has always been motivated to address social injustices and help families break the cycle of poverty. Raul has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Alaska, Anchorage and a Masters in Public Policy from Portland State University. He has previously worked for the State of Oregon, Portland State University and the Oregon Community Foundation.

When he isn’t doing awesome things with us at the Latino Network, Raul is volunteers with housing, and poverty related issues with other community organizations where he continues his involvement .

Along with reading, Dungeons and Dragons, and walking his dogs, Raul enjoys hiking and exploring the Pacific Northwest in his free time.

He also loves trying the awesome food that the Portland restaurant scene has to offer.
