Youth Microenterprises

Overview

At Latino Network, we believe innovative education and economic opportunities are critical for a thriving community. Cambio Café and Palomitas Kettlecorn, Latino Network’s youth microenterprise initiatives, empower at-risk and gang-involved youth with a sense of pride, entrepreneurial spirit, and practical business skills.

While working at Cambio Café or Palomitas Kettlecorn, youth build their confidence and their resumes while gaining the following benefits:

  • Work experience
  • Monetary stipend
  • On-going mentoring
  • Customer service skills
  • On-the-job understanding of how to run a business.

Program Details

Interested Latino youth participate in a business and job readiness training, led by Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, before being appointed to a microenterprise.

Palomitas Kettlecorn operates on Saturdays from April to September at the Gresham Saturday Market. Bags are $5 and can also be purchased at Latino Network offices. Cambio Café will operate at Gresham City Hall starting summer 2016.
