Jose Gutiérrez works on the Transformative Youth Opportunities team at Latino Network. He primarily works with the Parents Helping Parents program in the Rockwood and Gresham area along with the Community Healing Initiative.

Born and raised in El Salvador, Jose relocated to Los Angeles due to the armed conflict in his country. He became a naturalized citizen and lived for 30 years in California before moving to Portland with his family.

He studied in El Salvador at the National Institute of the Union College and the Alegría Seminary, run by the Maryknoll order, in pastoral theology. He continued his theological studies at the Institute of Hispanic Pastoral of the Archdiocese of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles.

Jose is a highly sought after local and national inspirational speaker as well as an organizer for the Latino community. In 2007, Most Reverend John G Vlazny ordained him to serve as a Permanent Deacon for The Archdiocese of Western Oregon.
