Ballet Folklórico Corazones Alegres
Latino Network embraces our rich and diverse cultural traditions. Ballet Folklórico honors and promotes Mexican culture, heritage, and identity through traditional dance classes and performances for youth and the community.
Youth learn traditional dances of the various regions while gaining an appreciation for the lyrical, musical and colorful culture and traditions of Mexico. By practicing the movements, Ballet Folklórico youth learn to reveal the story of each dance while developing pride in their heritage, dignity and poise.
Ballet Folklórico, led by renowned instructor Manuel Ramos, meets weekly for practice. Students are placed into one of two age groups—youth age 6-12 and youth 13-18. Students perform at community events throughout Portland including on the Rose Festival Foundation’s Fiesta float in the Rose Festival Parade, El Grito, Cinco de Mayo Waterfront Festival, and Latino Network’s Noche Bella Annual Gala.
